SOFT OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. raisins
1 c. water
3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves (opt.)
2 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. black walnuts, chopped

Simmer raisins in water until plump. Reserve liquid to measure 1/2 cup. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, stir in the rest of ingredients except raisins and nuts. Add raisin liquid and mix. Stir in raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart and bake for 10 to 12 minutes in 375 degree oven. Very good!
