SOFT OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. raisins
1 c. water

Boil until most of the water evaporates (about 2 teaspoons). Add 1 teaspoon baking soda.

1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 c. flour
2 c. oatmeal (2 1/2 c. at altitudes above 5, 000 feet)
1 c. chopped walnuts

Cream sugar and butter. Add salt, vanilla, eggs and 1 cup of the flour and beat well. Add the oatmeal, raisins and nuts. Add the rest of the flour. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet and bake for about 10 to 12 minutes in 375 degree oven.
