1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. cornstarch
2 1/2 c. milk
1 egg yolk
For chocolate, increase sugar 1/2 c. & 1/3 c. cocoa

Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt gradually. Add milk, vanilla and beat egg yolk, add to warm mixture. Cook in double boiler until thick. Pour into dessert dishes.
