BLACK DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
2 c. flour
1 3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. baking soda
2/3 c. oil
1 c. sour milk
1 c. strong coffee

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, and soda. Add sour milk (buttermilk or 1 cup sweet milk with 1 teaspoon vinegar). Add oil; stir until smooth. Gently stir in hot coffee (batter will be thin). Bake in greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan, 35 to 40 minutes.

Very moist cake, good iced or cut in squares, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a bit of chocolate syrup.
