PEAR-PINEAPPLE SALAD 
1 lg. can sliced pears
1 lg. can sliced pineapple
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. lemon juice (2)
2 env. Knox gelatin
1/4 c. water
1 egg
1 lg. lump butter
8-10 lg. marshmallows
1 pt. whipping cream
Grated extra fine Cheddar cheese
Cherries (optional)

Drain pears and pineapple. Keep juice. Place pears and pineapple in 13x9 inch pan.

In medium saucepan, mix pear and pineapple juice with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup lemon juice. Bring to a boil.

Dissolve 2 envelopes of Knox gelatin in 1/4 cup water. Mix with juice, cool and pour over fruit. Chill.

In saucepan, mix 1 egg, large lump of butter, 8-10 marshmallows, 1/4 cup lemon juice. Whip 1 pint of whipping cream and add to egg mixture. Pour over chilled salad. Sprinkle with finely grated Cheddar cheese. (Decorate with cherries.)
