BESSIE'S CARAMEL PIE 
1 c. sugar
3 eggs, separated
2 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Filling: Mix flour into 1/2 cup sugar and add to beaten egg yolks alternately with milk. Add vanilla and 1 tablespoon butter and bring to boil. Caramelize 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon of butter and combine while at same temperature. Stir and cook slowly until desired thickness and pour into 8 inch pie shell.
