MAINE HOT BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. water

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together. Add the shortening, mixing well with a fork. Add the water and mix. Roll out on a floured bread board. Cut with a round cutter and place on a well-greased pan. Brush the biscuits with butter before baking to make them tan and moist. Bake at 450 to 500 degrees until tanned on top.
