BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE 
Filling:

8 oz. cream cheese (softened)
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine softened cream cheese and sugar. Mix well. Add egg and vanilla and mix. Pour into pastry-lined pan.

Topping:

1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 large Cortland apples, peeled and sliced thin
1/4 c. sliced almonds

Combine sugar and cinnamon and mix well. Toss apples into mixture. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer and sprinkle with almonds.

Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 400°F and bake another 25 minutes. Cool before removing rim of pan.

Crust:

Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla. blend in flour. Pat dough into bottom and about 1 1/2 inches up the sides of a greased 9 inch spring form pan.
