Bavarian Apple Torte 
CRUST:

1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour

CHEESE FILLING:

1 8 oz. pkg cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

APPLE MIXTURE:

4 cups thinly sliced Granny Smith or Golden Delicious apples
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup sliced almonds

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add flour and mix well. Spread dough onto bottom and 1 -1/2 inches high of spring form pan. Combine softened cream cheese and sugar, mixing well until blended. Blend in egg and vanilla, pour into pastry-lined pan. Toss apples with sugar and cinnamon. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.

Bake at 450°F, 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 400°F, continue baking 25 minutes. Loosen rim of pan. Cool. Remove rim. Chill.

Serves - 6-8.
