ITALIAN BREAD | |
1 gram fat per serving. Makes 2 loaves. 2 c. warm water 1/4 tsp. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. active dry yeast 5 c. flour 1 tbsp. salt 2 tbsp. olive or canola oil Tub-style safflower butter In bowl combine water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast into water. Let stand about 10 minutes. In mixing bowl, combine flour, salt and oil. Add yeast water, mix to form a soft dough. Knead until smooth and elastic. Place dough in bowl greased with the butter. Turn over to coat top. Cover, let rise to double in size, about 1 1/2 hours. Punch down, cover, let rise until double in size, about one hour. Punch down, divide dough into two and shape into loaves. Place in greased pans, let rise about 1 hour. Bake at 450 degrees, 15-20 minutes. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from pans. |
