OVERNIGHT SALAD 
1 head iceberg lettuce
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas, thawed
4 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. chopped green pepper
1/2 c. chopped celery
1 pt. mayonnaise
6 slices crisp fried bacon, crumbled, or jar bacon bits

Shred lettuce into deep glass salad bowl. Sprinkle green pepper, onion, celery and peas over lettuce. Spread mayonnaise over vegetables like frosting. Top with cheese and bacon. Sprinkle sugar over top and chill overnight. When ready to serve, toss lightly.
