BUTTERMILK PRALINES 
2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. light syrup
2 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. pecans

Boil sugar, buttermilk, soda and light syrup in large, heavy pan to the soft ball stage. Remove from heat and stir in butter, vanilla and pecans. Cool, stirring frequently until it can be dropped onto foil sprinkled with salt. Work quickly as it thickens fast. Makes 16 to 18 praline patties.
