APPLE PIE 
For the diabetic in your family, or someone who doesn't want a lot of sugar.

THE CRUST:

(9x13 inch pan)

3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. butter flavored shortening
1/2 c. orange juice

Cut shortening into flour and salt. Add orange juice and stir with fork until a ball. Divide dough in half and roll out. Put crust halfway up a 9x13 pan. Put apple mixture in pan. Lay on top crust. Brush top with 1 egg which has been beaten with 2 tablespoons water. Puncture top crust with fork. Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees or 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

THE FILLING:

4 lbs. apples, Jonathan preferred
2 lg. pkgs. sugarless vanilla pudding, not instant
1/2 c. apple juice
1 tsp. cinnamon

Peel and thinly slice apples. Add pudding, apple juice and cinnamon.
