PORK CHOPS AND KRAUT
4 pork chops, about 1 inch thick
Salt and pepper
2 tbsp. oil
3 Golden Delicious apples
1 med. onion, coarsely chopped
1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
1 tsp. caraway sees
1/2 c. dry white wine

Sprinkle pork chops with salt and pepper. Heat oil in skillet; brown pork chops on both sides. Remove from skillet. Core and slice one apple; reserve 8 slices. Core and dice remaining apples; add to skillet with onion and saute until tender. Stir in sauerkraut and caraway seeds and saute a few minutes longer. Add wine. Transfer to shallow baking dish; arrange pork chops over sauerkraut mixture. Top each with 2 apple slices. Cover tightly and bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until pork chops are tender. Makes 4 servings.
