2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 c. uncooked oatmeal
1 pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. nut meats

Mix sifted flour, soda, and baking powder. Cream shortening, sugar, and brown sugar; add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Add flour mixture and then mix in the oatmeal, chocolate chips, and nuts. Bake about 15 minutes at 400 degrees or until nicely browned. Makes about 7 dozen cookies.
