CORN BREAD--SOUTHERN STYLE 
2 c. corn meal (stone ground is best)
2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. shortening or bacon grease

Melt shortening in an iron skillet. Mix ingredients and pour into skillet. Bake in 450 degree oven until crusty, 25 to 30 minutes.
