ANGEL FLAKE BISCUITS | |
1 pkg. yeast (mix in 1/4 c. lukewarm water) 1/4 c. sugar (less, if desired) 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 2 c. buttermilk 3/4 c. shortening 5 c. flour (add more if dough is too soft) 1 tsp. salt Sift flour, add dry ingredients of soda, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add shortening, work into dry ingredients. Then add buttermilk and dissolved yeast mixture. Stir into a soft dough. Roll out and cut desired size. Bake at 425 degrees. Dough can be rolled out and baked immediately or it will keep in the refrigerator. If self-rising flour is used, omit baking powder, soda and salt. |
