DICK'S OLD FASHIONED DOUGHNUTS
1 egg
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. melted butter
1 c. buttermilk or sour cream

Whip egg, mix sugar and butter, whip together - stir in milk or cream. Set aside.

3 level c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Sift dry material together - mix all material together. Take out of mixing bowl onto a floured sheet of wax paper, fold into ball, put into a bag and leave in the refrigerator overnight if possible, but at least 3 hours.

When ready roll out on a floured surface to a thickness of 1/2 inch and cut out with a doughnut cutter. Heat least three inches of oil, preferably Crisco, to 365 to 375 degrees. Fry on both sides until brown. Should make a couple dozen doughnuts.
