3 lbs. lard, heat to 375 degrees 2 tbsp. soft butter 3/4 c. sugar 4 egg yolks, beaten 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 3 c. flour, sifted 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt Combine butter, sugar and egg yolks. Add milk and vanilla. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt which have been sifted together. Drop batter (tip of teaspoon) into hot fat. Cook 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Roll in sugar. Makes 4 dozen. Variation: Add 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg or grated orange rind. |
