BREAD PUDDING 
4 c. bread cubes
2 c. milk
3 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
Dash of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Use day old bread, crusts and all. Cut into 1/4" to 1/2" cubes. Place in buttered baking dish. Scald milk with butter and sugar. Beat eggs slightly; add salt; then stir in the warm milk and vanilla. Pour over bread cubes. Set baking dish in pan containing warm water up to level of pudding. Bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour or until knife comes out clean when inserted in center of pudding.

DUTCH SAUCE FOR BREAD PUDDING:

2 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. water
3/4 c. sugar (may use brown sugar)
1/4 c. vinegar
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. cornstarch

Cook together butter, water, sugar and vinegar. Mix 1 teaspoon cinnamon and cornstarch and dissolve in a little water. Add to hot mixture and cook until clear. If not thick enough, add more cornstarch water.
