OKRA GUMBO 
1 c. cubed okra
2 c. canned tomatoes or 3 lg. fresh tomatoes
1 sm. onion, chopped
1 tbsp. bacon drippings
1/2 bell pepper, chopped
2 tbsp. butter
Salt & pepper
1 tbsp. sugar

Melt drippings in skillet, add onion and bell pepper, fry until fairly tender. Add tomatoes, okra and butter. Season with salt, pepper and sugar. Cook at low temperature until thick and tender. Add a small amount of water if necessary.
