VEGETABLE CHOWDER 
2 c. diced raw potatoes
3/4 c. minced onion
1 c. diced celery
2 1/2 c. boiling water
2 1/2 tsp. salt

4 tbsp. shortening
4 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. pepper, 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 c. evaporated milk
1 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. ketchup
1/4 lb. grated cheese
1 pt. stewed tomatoes

Pour boiling water over vegetables - simmer until potatoes are done. In double boiler make cream sauce. Combine with vegetables and water in which they were cooked. At very last add tomatoes. Serves 6.
