SWEDISH ALMOND TOAST | |
5 c. flour 1 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 lb. butter 2 eggs 3 1/2 tsp. almond extract 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 (8 oz.) container sour cream or plain yogurt 1 c. chopped almonds Beat sugar and butter until well mixed. Beat in eggs. Add almond extract and beat. Sift flour, soda, and salt; add alternately to mixture with sour cream, adding nuts with last addition of flour. Put on lightly floured board and shape in loaf. Divide in 6 parts. Roll in long roll and put 3 on each cookie sheet. Bake 30 minutes. Remove from oven and slice in 3/4 inch slices diagonally like French bread. Turn on the cut side and return to oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Take out of oven and turn over and put in oven 8 to 10 minutes more. (350 degree oven.) |
