EASY HAWAIIAN TORTE 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1 c. (8 3/4 oz. can) undrained, crushed pineapple
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. flaked or chopped shredded coconut
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar

Sift together flour, soda and salt. Cream butter and gradually add sugar. Add unbeaten egg, pineapple and vanilla; mix well. Stir in the dry ingredients. Turn into 9" square pan, greased and floured on bottom. Combine coconut and brown sugar and sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. If desired, serve warm or cold with whipped cream or ice cream.
