STEWED APPLES 
2 lbs. apples (Granny Smith), 5 to 6 apples
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. white vermouth
1/2 c. sugar
1 sm. piece lemon peel
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Saute apples in butter and lemon juice until slightly browned. Add water and vermouth and lemon peel and cook until liquid reduces. Add sugar. Cook another 3 to 4 minutes and serve. Great with pork.
