PORK CHOP CASSEROLE 
4 sm. med. thick lean pork chops (chicken or steak can be used)
1/2 c. raw onion
2 ripe tomatoes
1/2 green pepper
1 can consomme soup
Pinches of marjoram & thyme
Salt & pepper

Brown pork chops in skillet. Place chops on top of raw rice in a fairly deep casserole dish, add pork chop drippings. Place a thick slice of onion, tomatoes and a ring of green pepper on each pork chops. Salt and pepper each layer as you go along; this dish soaks up lots of salt. Pour in consomme soup. Sprinkle with a couple pinches of marjoram and thyme. Place lid on casserole dish and bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Substitute steak or chicken for pork chops.
