1/2 lb. dates, cut
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1-2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts

Mix thoroughly and add to date mixture. Bake about 40 minutes in shallow pan, 350 degrees or less.
