FRUIT CAKE 
1 lb. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. strawberry jelly
10 lg. eggs
4 c. plain flour (save 1 cup to dust fruit)
1 tsp. baking powder
1 grated orange ( with juice)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 lb. dates
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. red and green candied cherries
1 lb. candied pineapple
1 sm. lemon peel
1 sm. citron
1 lb. chopped nuts

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, gradually beat until light and fluffy, add jelly, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour and spices. Add orange. Mix well.

The day before cut up and stand overnight the dates, raisins, cherries, pineapple, lemon peel, citron, nuts. Dust fruit mix with dry ingredients (one cup). Grease a 10 inch tube pan, line with waxed or brown paper. Cook at 275 degrees for 3 or 3 1/2 hours.
