MOLASSES OATMEAL COOKIES 
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
3/4 c. oatmeal

Sift dry ingredients. Cream sugar and shortening, unbeaten egg and molasses; beat 2 minutes. Stir in dry ingredients. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 minutes at 375 degrees. Do not overbake. Allow to stand a minute before removing from pan.
