LEMON LOAF 
1 lg. lemon
2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
Sugar (see amounts below)
3/4 c. butter
3 eggs
3/4 c. milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Grate peel of lemon and set aside. Squeeze out 4 1/2 tablespoons juice, set aside. In a large bowl with fork mix flour, baking powder, salt and 1 1/2 cups sugar. With pastry blender cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in lemon peel.

In small bowl, beat eggs slightly. Stir in milk. Stir egg mixture into flour mixture just until flour is moistened. Spoon evenly into pan. Bake 1 hour, 15 minutes.

While bread is cooling: In small saucepan over medium heat bring lemon juice and 2 tablespoons sugar to boil. Cook until slightly thickened. Brush over top and sides of bread.
