2 c. plain flour
2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil water, butter, shortening and cocoa. Pour over flour and sugar. Add eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Mix quickly. Pour into greased 9 x 14 pan and bake 25 minutes at 350°F.

Icing:

1 stick butter
3 1/2 tbsp. cocoa
1/3 c. milk
1 box confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil butter, cocoa and milk. Add sugar, mix, then add vanilla.
