HAMBURGER PICKLES 
4 qts. sliced cucumbers
1/3 c. canning salt
3 onions, sliced
3 cloves garlic, sliced
5 c. sugar
3 c. vinegar
2 tbsp. mustard seed
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric

Combine onion, cucumbers, garlic and salt. Mix well. Cover with ice cubes let stand three hours. Drain well. Mix sugar, vinegar, mustard seed and turmeric. Let come to a boil, add drained cucumbers, then let it come to a boil again. Pack in jars with a head of dill. Cover with hot brine and seal. Enough for 10 pints.
