3/4 c. Crisco
4 eggs, separated
2 scant c. sugar
1 scant c. milk
3 scant tsp. baking powder
3 scant c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt

Combine Crisco, egg yolks and sugar in mixer and mix well. Beat egg whites stiff and set aside. Alternate milk and flour an baking powder and salt to first mixture and mix well. Add vanilla and last, fold in beaten egg whites until blended. Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) cake pans or 13 x 9 inch baking pan and bake in 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and ice with your favorite icing.
