ITALIAN CASSEROLE 
1 1/2 lb. lean hamburger
32 oz. jar spaghetti sauce (1 qt.)
1-1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. pepper
8 oz. mozzarella shredded cheese
1 1/2 c. chopped onion
1/3 c. water
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. sugar, optional
5-6 med. potatoes, sliced thin

Cook meat and onions in a 12 inch skillet or Dutch oven until onions are tender. Stir occasionally. Add sauce, water, salt, pepper, basil, oregano and sugar. Cook 2 minutes to blend flavors.

In 13 x 9 inch pan spoon evenly 1/3 of meat mixture. Arrange 1/2 of potatoes on top, repeat layers. Cover lightly with foil. Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour. 350 degrees if glass pan is used until potatoes are fork tender. Remove cover, sprinkle with cheese. Bake 10 minutes for easy cutting.
