ITALIAN CASSEROLE | |
1 1/2 lb. ground beef 1 1/2 c. chopped onion 1 (32 oz.) jar spaghetti sauce 1 tsp. sugar 5 med. potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced 1 (8 oz.) pkg. Mozzarella cheese 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. basil 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. oregano 1/3 c. water In 12 inch skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onions until onions are tender, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add spaghetti sauce, water, salt, basil, oregano, and pepper. Cook 2 minutes to blend flavors. In 13 x 9 inch baking dish evenly spoon 1/3 meat mixture. Arrange 1/2 of potatoes on top, repeat layering and ending with meat mixture. Cover dish tightly with foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender. Remove foil; sprinkle cheese on top and bake 10 minutes until cheese melts. |
