LAZY JANE'S WEEKEND BEEF
CASSEROLE
 
1 lb. beef chuck or stewing beef in chunks
1/2 c. red wine
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can undiluted condensed consomme
3/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 med. onion, cut up
1/4 c. bread crumbs, boxed or fresh
1/4 c. flour

Combine beef, wine, consomme, salt, pepper, onion in casserole. Mix flour and crumbs. Stir into casserole mixture. COVER. Bake at 300 degrees about 3 hours. If using more tender cut of meat as top sirloin only bake 2 hours. Can add carrots and potatoes near end of if desired.
