1 1/2 c. lard or Crisco 3 c. sugar 1 1/2 c. buttermilk 3 eggs 3 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. cocoa 6 1/2 c. flour 3 tsp. salt 3 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 c. water (hot) Cream lard and sugar. Add well beaten eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, flour, cocoa and salt. Dissolve soda in hot water, add to mixture. Drop by teaspoonfuls. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. FILLING: 5 egg whites 4 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. Crisco 6 tbsp. milk 3 c. powdered sugar Beat egg whites stiff. Add vanilla, milk, Crisco and powdered sugar. Mix well, put filling in between 2 cookies. |
