HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1 stick butter
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs
1 c. milk
3 tsp. Crisco

Mix sugar, eggs, Crisco, vanilla, and dash of salt, then buttermilk and add flour as desired (at least 1 1/2 cups); mix well and pour into greased and floured pans. Cook until you think it's done (test with straw inserted in cake, when it comes out clean it is done).

Frosting: Add 2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa, and 1 cup milk; boil until bubbly. Cook until a soft ball forms in a glass of cool water. Take off heat; let cool. Meanwhile, adding 1 stick butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Make little holes in layers and pour remaining chocolate mix to make layers moist.
