SNICKERDOODLES 
1 c. soft shortening (part butter)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Measure flour and blend dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts.

Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a 400 degree oven. These cookies puff up at first, then flatten down. Yields 5 dozen cookies.
