SOFT ROLLS
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. warm water
3/4 c. milk, scalded
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 c. sifted flour
1 egg

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Soften yeast in warm water. Combine milk, shortening, sugar, and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add 1 cup flour and beat well with mixer. Beat in yeast and egg. Add rest of flour, mix well. Place in a greased bowl. Cover and place in refrigerator 2 hours or until needed.

About 2 hours before serving time, flour a board and turn dough out on this. Shape into rolls and let rise until double, about 2 hours. Bake at 350 to 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Makes 16 rolls.
