1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1/4 c. boiling water
3/4 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. bourbon
4 c. pecan pieces
1/2 lb. candied cherries, chopped
1 lb. dates, cut up
1 c. golden raisins

Mix together first 4 ingredients. Add rest of ingredients, stirring after each one is added. Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet.

Bake about 15 minutes at 350°F.
