SHRIMP GUMBO 
3 lg. onions
2 lb. okra (more if desired)
2 green peppers, chopped
2 c. celery, chopped
2 lb. shrimp
1 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. red pepper
2 tsp. file gumbo
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. basil leaves
2 tsp. parsley flakes
2 bay leaves
2 cans tomato paste

Brown onions in about 10 tablespoons bacon drippings. Add okra and let brown a few minutes or until about half done. Put about a gallon of water, then add the celery and peppers. Also the other seasonings, including the tomato paste and shrimp; let simmer about 1 hour.
