1 1/2 c. corn meal
1/2 c. sifted plain flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1 sm. onion, chopped
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 c. buttermilk

Sift together dry ingredients, add onion, egg and buttermilk. Mix. Drop by teaspoonfuls into hot deep oil. Cook until golden brown. About 3 to 4 minutes, turning once.
