1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar plus 2 tbsp.
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. applesauce
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Cream shortening and sugar. Add next six ingredients. Mix. Add applesauce and 3/4 of the chocolate chips. Pour into 8 x 12 pan. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Pour remaining chips on top of cake and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
