CHOCOLATE APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1. 1 1/4 c. flour
2. 1/4 c. cocoa
3. 1/2 tsp. baking soda
4. 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
5. 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
6. 1/4 c. chopped walnuts
1/4 c. raisins
6 tbsp. room temperature butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. applesauce
1/4 c. milk

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a 9 inch square pan. Combine first 6 ingredients. Toss walnuts and raisins with 1 tablespoon of mixture. Beat together butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Beat in flour mixture in thirds, alternating with applesauce and adding milk alternately. Stir in nut mixture. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, 30 minutes. Cool. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
