CHOCOLATE - APPLESAUCE CAKE 
3 c. Gold Medal flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. ground chocolate
3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 med. eggs
2 c. thick applesauce
1 1/2 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts

Sift dry ingredients and chocolate together. Cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time beating well. Alternately add dry ingredients and applesauce, beating until smooth after each addition. Add raisins and nuts which have been mixed together. Turn into a greased paper-lined 9 x 12 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Serves 18.
