WHITE BREAD
2 pkg. or tbsp. yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1 1/2 tsp. sugar or honey
1/2 c. sugar or honey
1 tbsp. salt
1/3 c. oil
3 c. warm water
11 c. white flour

May replace up to half with whole wheat flour for a wheat bread.

Proof yeast in 1/2 cup warm water and 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Set aside.

Combine water, sugar or honey, salt, oil and 5 cups flour in a large bowl. Beat well and stir in additional flour to make a stiff dough. Turn out on floured board and knead 5 minutes. Let rest 1/2 hour, punch down and let rise 1 hour. Shape into 4 loaves; place in greased pans and let rise about 45 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Brush tops with butter.
