BANANA CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
4 tbsp. sour milk (can be made by adding 1 tsp. of vinegar to milk)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. mashed bananas
1 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nuts; optional
2 beaten egg whites

Cream shortening and sugar; add yolks, milk, vanilla, salt, bananas, and flour. Beat 2 minutes medium speed. Fold in beaten egg whites and nuts. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake 35 minutes at 375 degrees. Test with toothpick.
