ROSE POTPOURRI | |
Separate the petals of the freshest blossoms of several varieties of fragrant roses. You will need enough to make 6 cups when dried. To dry petals spread them in single layer on a dry cloth or in the bottom of a large cardboard box. Place them in a dry, shady spot for 3 to 4 days or until petals are thoroughly dry. Ground cloves Cinnamon Allspice Mint flakes 1 1/2 tsp. orris root (may be purchased at drug stores). Pack into a large jar the spice mixture and the petals. Cover tightly and let stand 4 to 5 weeks, stirring every 2 or 3 days. Tie in sachet bags with colorful ribbons. They may be placed in dresser drawers or in attractive small jars. |
