EASTER BREAD 
3 c. sugar
1 doz. eggs
1 pt. milk (room temp.)
3/4 lb. shortening
1 pkg. dry yeast
2 oranges, rind and juice
2 lemons, rind and juice
2 tbsp. vanilla
1 tsp. anisette extract
5 lbs. flour (about)

Mix sugar and shortening. Add beaten eggs gradually, mix well. Add orange, lemon, vanilla and anisette (also (salt - optional). Sift flour and add to liquid with yeast, plus all other ingredients. Knead like bread. Let rise overnight in 75 degree temperature.

Next morning knead and shape into loaves (any shape - usually braided into circle or lift long like twist bread). Cover with towel and let rise before baking. Bake in 350 degree oven until brown (about 1/2 hour).

Frost with plain icing made by combining milk and confectioners' sugar. Sprinkle with confetti decoration.
